What is the cost of volunteering?
There can often be a misconception that volunteering means free, whilst in reality it costs money to recruit, train, and celebrate volunteers.
Our recent survey found that none of the organisations we spoke to had any funding specifically for volunteer management, and that most underestimated how much they spend on volunteer management (DBS checks, training, room hire and refreshments for meetings, staff and volunteer time)
When volunteers aren’t well managed, it’s much more likely they’ll leave, creating more work when it comes to recruiting and training new volunteers. Investing in volunteer management means having more volunteers, who are happier and better trained, so that you can make a much bigger impact on your clients.
What difference would it make to your organisation to have a dedicated, paid volunteer co-ordinator?
