Victoria Park Buckfastleigh/ BeBuckfastleigh Open Air Pool is looking for a new Chair and new Trustees.

Victoria Park Buckfastleigh is a charity set up in 1897 and runs the oldest pool in Devon,  and one of the oldest lido in the country.  Its Chair for the past 10 years is stepping down at the end of September and the board is looking for a new chair,  and new trustees to help lead the charity.

Outgoing Chair Pam Barrett says:

“After 10 years I’m stepping down from the board of trustees so that a new chair can help steer the charity forward.

Since 2014 the trustees have led the campaign to prevent the pool from closure, created a new legal and organisational structure, raised well over half a million pounds to upgrade the pool and park, and developed a thriving and popular facility for local people and visitors alike to relax, have fun and boost their physical and mental health and wellbeing.

The charity is currently in excellent position with a strong and skilled Board, the pool in a good physical and financial state, and a professional team of staff, so now seems the perfect time for some new trustees and a chair to join the team and develop plans for the next 10 years.

We’re looking for people with a range of interests and those looking to boost their skills and cv.  The role offers an opportunity to develop leadership, project management, financial, media and communication skills,  as well as for enthusiastic swimmers and community champions to be part of this much loved community facility.

The Board meet online once a month so location is no barrier to joining.
