The first ever Teignmouth SOUP community fundraising evening will take place on Thursday 26th April, 6.30pm at Teignmouth Rugby Club
SOUP started in the USA in 2010, and is now run all over the world: SOUP is a fantastic way for the local community to find out about, support, and fund local community projects.
The idea is simple:
People pay £5.00 for a tasty bowl of soup and hearty chunk of bread, and listen to several pitches from local people with a community-benefiting project or idea.
Each person or group has the floor for up to five minutes and must rely on their passion and the value of their projects to win over the audience.
Over a tasty bowl of freshly made soup, everyone has time to chat with others, and mull over the ideas before choosing their favourite idea to vote for.
The winning pitches take home, their portion of the SOUP money taken at the door, and of a £500 donation from a local benefactor, to use to fund their plans. They report on their progress at the next SOUP event
Anyone wishing to pitch should write a paragraph about their idea/project and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org by 12th April 2018. Please include: the name of the project; contact details (including an email address); a brief project summary including how you will spend the money and the desired outcomes and any practical or technical help you hope to get from your community. If you are selected to pitch, we will let you know by 19th April.
Remember to ask your friends and supporters to book their places to help increase your votes and chances of success!
Please share this info as widely as possible; we are really keen to get small groups and individuals with new community ideas involved and help them to get their project off the ground.
