Teignmouth SOUP, the very first SOUP event in Teignbridge, took place on Thursday 26th April - and was a fabulous success!
Thank you to all who made it happen: Nicola at the Teignmouth Rugby Club for the free venue; Andy the marvellous soup chef; David who took stunning photos of the evening; the groups who pitched, the people who came, the partners who helped, and many more, including (last but not least!), the Alice Cross Centre, who came to our rescue with some last-minute extra soup bowls!
If you're not familiar with the SOUP idea, it came from 'over the pond' and is spreading fast: a community comes together, people buy a bowl of soup, and after listening to the pitches from several local community groups, ideas or projects then vote for their favourite. It's a great way to fundraise, as well as to make crowdfunding more meaningful to the givers.
The winners on the night at Teignmouth SOUP were Teign Heritage youth Project and the Friends of the Teignmouth Old Cemetery, winning money on the night to put to use on their projects. It seems like SOUP was a win for Teignmouth!
Watch this space as we look forward to bringing SOUP to other areas in Teignbridge... it could be your community next!
