Could you or someone you know make a positive impact on the life of an older person with a learning disability? Can you spare 12 hours a year?
We are looking for a volunteer to join the Mencap Visiting Service, an empowering service to people with a learning disability, after their parents have passed away.
You will spend time with a local man with a learning disability, visiting every 2 months. Robert is a fun & friendly man in his mid-50s living near Exeter. He loves spending time with people and getting to know them. He enjoys getting involved in most activities especially watching Exeter City Football Club and attending his weekly woodworking classes at Men’s Sheds Association.
By visiting every other month you will make a huge difference. He will enjoy spending time with a fun and friendly volunteer who can give him some special attention and do his favourite activities with him.
Visits will be every 2 months and can take place on a Wednesday or Saturday. Visits will probably last around 1 – 2 hours. The exact times can be flexible to your availability but we ask for a minimum commitment of 1 year.
Volunteers receive induction and ongoing support from the volunteering team, plus expenses and mileage.
