Becoming a Volunteer Driver

Thank you for your enquiry into becoming a Volunteer Driver.  Sometimes we take for granted the freedom to go where we want, when we want.

For those people who find it difficult to get out, or who don’t have a car, volunteer transport schemes can help them feel more independent and connect with their local communities.

Volunteer drivers use their own cars or vehicles owned by voluntary groups to get people where they want to go. The priority for voluntary groups in Teignbridge is to support people to attend a health appointment but there are other opportunities that could include:

  • A shopping trip
  • A social activity or event
  • Seeing family or friends
  • A drive in the country
  • Just getting out of the house

You can help to give people the independence they crave.

Training is provided and all expenses are paid; you can give as many or as few hours as you want to.

Please complete the contact form below and we will pass your details on to the most appropriate volunteer transport scheme.
