Following the success of the first Buckfastleigh SOUP Community Fundraising event last year, SOUP is back on Friday 7th June 2019.
At the last SOUP, three local project walked away with a share of £700; as a result a second community defibrillator was installed, Buckfastleigh Wild Warriors have started to run sessions with young people in the town and Take Centre Stage performing arts group not only purchased new costumes but also doubled in membership!
SOUP is simple: Local people come together, making a donation on the door, and enjoy a bowl of soup with a hearty chunk of bread and listen to people pitch for their community benefiting project ideas.
Pitchers each have the floor for up to five minutes and must rely on the strength of their project (and their passion for it!) to win over the audience.
With the presentations over, soup is served and participants will have time to think and talk over the ideas over others before choosing their favourite to vote for.
This event, once again, is generously supported by the town council and a local benefactor, now also joined by the local Rotary Club.
The winning pitches get to take home, between them, a share both of money taken at the door and local donations (already more than £ 500). They get to use it to fund their plans, and will update the next SOUP event on their progress.
Come along to Buckfastleigh Town Hall on Friday June 7, 6.00pm and hear about local projects, groups and ideas; share good food with your fellow Buckfastleigh residents; and of course vote for who you feel are the most deserving projects this time round.
